Community Assessment

As an outcomes driven organization, LexLinc understands that human services organizations throughout the community need good, up to date data.  We are all responsible for creating, assimilating and sharing.  To this end, LexLinc conducted a large community assessment in 2003, in 2007-2008 assisted in LFUCG's Department for Social Services needs assessment and strategic planning process and in 2009 coordinated an English-as-a-second-langage community assessent and forum.  These sources are available below.

  • Community Assessment http://www.lexlinc.org/ 2009-12-14T12:25:28Z 2007 Social Services Needs Assessment http://www.lexlinc.org/site/community-assessment/social-services-needs-assessment.html 2009-12-14T12:25:28Z <p>LexLinc&nbsp;helped organize and plan the assessment project for the LFUCG Department of Social Services. &nbsp; The department hosted a community-wide summit in August 2007 to kickoff the process.&nbsp; Over 300 individuals attended the summit and broke into&nbsp; six teams:<br /> &nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Children (0-6)</li> <li>Youth</li> <li>Adults</li> <li>Housing</li> <li>Special Needs</li> <li>Cross Cutting Issues</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>These groups met&nbsp;during&nbsp;the rest of 2007 and early 2008 to substantiate needs, identify service delivery models, governmental roles and recommend solutions.<br /> &nbsp;</p> <p>The final report,&nbsp;released in April 2008,&nbsp;provides a basis for strategic planning for the Department for Social Services of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government.&nbsp;</p> <p><br /> For more information, please visit the needs assessment web page, click <a target="_blank" href="http://www.lexingtonky.gov/Modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=5937">here</a>.</p> 2003 Community Assessment http://www.lexlinc.org/site/community-assessment/information.html 2008-04-01T05:20:51Z On March 6, 2003, LexLinc and the University of Kentucky Research Center for Families and Children released research results of the Lexington-Fayette County Self-Assessment, an in-depth community-wide assessment conducted during late Spring 2002. <p>Over 1,500 randomly selected families completed interviews with responses to more than 100 questions regarding their financial needs, income support and mental health needs and characteristics such as ethnicity, education, marital status and number of people in household. </p> <p>Data is organized into targeted Assessment Sectors, or contiguous census tracts with similar income levels and demographics. Specific human needs such as childcare or employment can be identified in each geographic sector. </p> <p><strong><em><font size="3"></font></em></strong></p> <p><strong><em><font size="3">Accessing the Data</font></em></strong> <br /> LexLinc and the UK Research Center for Families and Children have prepared three forms of the of data to help citizens and service providers, at no cost, take advantage of this information.
