2007 Back-to-School Rallies

Wow. Just look at these pictures! We had so much fun.

100s of volunteers gathered at the W.T. Young Center at Transylvania University to stuff backpacks.

Backpacks were stuffed with supplies  for elementary school children according to their grade level.


5,000 backpacks were stuffed by youth & community volunteers in less than five hours.




Superintendent Stu Silberman addressed the audience at the Back-to- School Rally press conference.


On Saturday, August 11, 13 Lexington neighborhoods sponsored the Ready, Set, Go Back-to-School Rallies.


Families stood in line to get supplies for their children.  Some locations also gave out middle & high school supplies.


Students were given bags with supplies based on what grade they were going to attend.

A single mother of three was able to get backpacks and school supplies for all her children
